Episode 3

Pamela Wagner has spent over a decade building two companies, training Fortune 500 leaders across 20 countries, and visiting over a hundred countries. All while feeling genuinely fulfilled, aligned and happy along the way.

Pamela Wagner is the founder of Ajala Digital, an AI and advertising consultancy, and Hustle Less and Live More, a leadership development practice that helps high-performing executives lead from a place of calm and alignment. She is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, a Harvard Psychology graduate, and a lecturer at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Her work has been featured by ABC News, Forbes, the Washington Times and more.

What makes Pamela’s story so resonant for the Aligned Ambitious community is that she figured out early on that there is another way. A way where ambition and wellbeing do not compete with each other. Where success feels good from the inside, and where the journey itself carries the meaning. In this episode, she shares how she got there and what she has learned from helping hundreds of leaders find their own version of that path.

It Must Be About the Journey

Pamela left Google after less than a year, started freelancing, and within four months had replaced her salary through her own entrepreneurial work. It was a meaningful milestone. And yet, very early on, she noticed something important: achieving a goal only brought happiness for a few minutes. Then it was gone.

She had seen this pattern even earlier, playing basketball at school between the ages of nine and thirteen. Winning a championship felt exciting for about five minutes. Then you were back to square one. That insight stayed with her. If the goal itself does not create lasting happiness, then it must be about the journey. Psychology has a name for this: the hedonic treadmill. Pamela had worked it out herself long before she learned the term.

At university, she watched almost every student in her program chase a job at one of the big consulting firms. She watched some of them get there. And she noticed that nobody who arrived seemed genuinely happy. That observation pushed her to keep asking the deeper question: what does success actually mean, and what does it feel like from the inside?

“If you truly want to be happy, there is no sacrifice needed.”

The Shift From Head to Heart

For most of her early life, Pamela lived primarily in her head. It was a strategy that served her well. She skipped two grades in school, excelled academically, and built strong analytical abilities. Her mind was a place where she could make sense of things, move forward, and feel in control.

The shift began with a trip to Nigeria at eighteen. She had always wanted to study abroad but it was not financially possible, so she found a way to work abroad instead. Before boarding the plane, she set a clear intention: to arrive with curiosity rather than assumptions. That intention shaped the entire experience. She had a genuinely good time, built a network she still has today, and came away with an understanding that there is power in something bigger than just the rational mind.

From there she began exploring meditation, personal development and intuition. She started noticing that things she had imagined would sometimes become real within two weeks. She learned to read her environment, to listen to her body, and to act on what she sensed rather than override it. The positive reinforcement built over time. The more she trusted the signal, the more it showed up for her.

For anyone who wants the data: the heart has a magnetic field 5,000 times stronger than the brain’s, and an electrical field 60 times larger. It carries an enormous amount of information. Most people simply have not been taught how to access it.

“Good things happen automatically when I am in my heart. So because I am in my heart, good things happen.”

What Aligned Leadership Actually Looks Like

Pamela does not plan her business in the traditional sense. She does not set revenue targets or map out five-year goals. Instead, she sets intentions around how she wants to feel and what she wants to experience. This year, for example, her theme was growing through partnerships. Those partnerships came, without forcing them.

She shared a concrete example. A few years ago she had her team compile a list of the top 100 universities in the world and reached out to all of them hoping to teach more. Not a single positive outcome came from it. Later, she simply held the intention that she wanted to teach more, and the invitations arrived on their own: from a university she was already connected to, and from a university where she had studied. The difference was not effort. It was energy and timing.

This is what she means by leading from the heart: getting the internal state right first, holding a clear desire, and then following the signs as they appear rather than forcing a predetermined path.

Helping Leaders Find Their Way

The leaders who come to Pamela through Hustle Less and Live More are typically high performers who are ready for something more sustainable. They want to keep their ambition and add real wellbeing alongside it. The work often begins by looking at family history, nervous system patterns and the deeper structures that shape how a person relates to success and self-worth.

Tools like family constellation, breathwork, somatic practices and conscious use of language all play a role. One client was asked to write a letter to time because he felt there was never enough of it. Two weeks later he shared that his relationship with time had completely transformed. He had everything he needed. Nothing external had changed. The shift was entirely internal.

Words, Pamela says, carry energy. Visualization matters. How you practice feeling something in advance shapes what you are able to receive. The work is highly individual and adapts to each person’s life and circumstances. And the results, she has seen consistently, go far deeper than anyone expected.

“The true power, the life and creation power, comes from when we are in a state of calmness.”

A Day That Reflects What You Value

Pamela is up between five and six in the morning. Her mornings are two to three hours of time entirely for herself before she opens her laptop. Tea, meditation for thirty minutes to over an hour, movement: running, inline skating, strength training, or a forty-five minute bicycle ride to a coffee shop. Then work, in focused blocks.

Evenings are for reading, baking, meeting friends, experiencing something new. She is in bed by nine or ten. This is not a compromise. It is a deliberate structure built around what she knows makes her feel good and enables her best work.

She is honest that she still has areas she is working on. Voicing her needs and setting clear boundaries is something she does consciously every day. She describes herself as about eighty percent there, doing her one percent each day. That honesty is part of what makes her such a compelling role model: she is not presenting a finished version of herself, but a lived and ongoing practice.

The Reflection Prompt for Right Now

Recorded around the summer solstice, Pamela closed the episode with an invitation worth taking seriously. Write down five things that have grown in your life this year. On the other side of the paper, write five things you are ready to let go of before the year continues. Give both sides some gratitude. Then tear the paper and release it.

The point is not to track whether you achieve the list. It is to take a moment of genuine reflection for yourself, right now, in this season. To notice what is flourishing and what you are ready to move beyond.

Keep going. Keep listening to your body. Keep practicing that skill. It will pay off more than you can currently imagine.
